Scholarship Fund

The Tarrant Area Gerontological Society (TAGS) is an organization of individuals who are interested in aging that advocate for meeting the needs of older adults and sharing the knowledge and information with each other and the community. TAGS will be offering scholarships for full-time or part-time students on an annual basis. The scholarship program provides financial assistance to those preparing for a career in gerontology or those currently working in an aging field, who wish to increase their skills through either a degree or certificate program.

Eligibility for Scholarship: Individuals who live or work in Tarrant County, who are seeking careers in gerontology, including social work, counseling, nursing and administration, or who are currently working in the field of aging and would like to increase their skills through a degree or a certificate program (for example: RN, LVN, CNA, PT, OT, ST), and must be enrolled or accepted by college or program before funds will be released.

Please note that applications sent without the following documents will not be considered:

A completed application form, a comprehensive essay, proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited university or certificate program (prior to the release of funds), two letters of recommendation: 1 academic and 1 personal letter of recommendation. Note: If this is the first educational program to be entered after a substantial time period, a letter of recommendation from an employer will be accepted in lieu of the academic reference.

Finalist will be interviewed by the scholarship committee prior to the selection of the receipt(s) of the scholarship. Payment of the scholarship will be made directly to the Registrar Office of the university, college or certificate program. The scholarship committee chair will present the scholarship award at TAGS Summer Forum. The recipient will be required to attend the TAGS Summer Forum held in July to accept their scholarship.
